Budget

If you are an MRHS Music student or parent you are automatically a MRHS Music Foundation Member, as we do not charge dues for membership. However, at 600 students and growing every year, MRHS Music Department is one of the largest in the nation, and has a budget to match! Outside support funding is shrinking annually, so even with some help in funding from HCPSS (<3% of budget) and MRHS Boosters (~5% of budget), the level of additional financial support required for this large an organization is currently about $250 per student per year.  The students and directors dedicate enormous amounts of time to their music. However, it takes more than practice to maintain an elite rank. To maintain the high standards of excellence we have achieved requires a huge investment of time, energy, and money. 

Our funds consist of Family & Business Patron donations, concert ticket sales, and monies raised from fundraising events. The Music Foundation uses funds received through all our outside sources, programs and events to purchase instruments and musical scores, pay clinician fees for experts to work with the students, pay registration and transportation costs for competitions and other events, purchase and maintain uniforms and costumes, and provide other music-related equipment and support as needed.
